Happyguest, together with GUARDHOG, have specifically created a new insurance product to cover hosts when you have paying guests staying at your homes. Take advantage of this insurance to protect your short-let rental properties today!
GUARDHOG’s home-sharing insurance, Host Cover, is an on-demand, pay-by-the-stay, ‘full-fat’ home insurance that covers the risks of having short-term paying guests. GUARDHOG have designed the cover to dovetail your existing home and content insurance and there is no need to make any changes to your existing policies.
GUARDHOG is underwritten by Hiscox Limited, a global insurer with an A+ rating by Fitch.
The Airbnb Host Guarantee provides protection of up to £600,000 to a host in the rare event of property damages caused by paying guests. However, Airbnb is clear that the Host Guarantee does not replace your home insurance and strongly encourages hosts to have their own insurance for having paying guests. Happyguest do not think the Airbnb Host Guarantee & resolution service can be relied upon to cover all eventualities. Therefore we have helped GUARDHOG create a specific home-sharing insurance, Host Cover, to protect you and your homes from damages and liabilities that cannot be reimbursed by the Airbnb Host Guarantee.
Malicious & accidental damage, theft by the guest & unforced entry, public liability, buildings & contents and communal areas.
If you are uncertain what exactly is covered by your existing insurance in the event of a claim when it’s unrelated to a guest, GUARDHOG's policy states that if something is specifically excluded because of guests staying, you will be covered. For example, if your home floods and your insurer won’t pay because you have guests staying, then GUARDHOG will.
The costs vary depending on the host and the property, but start from as little as £2 per night. As a Happyguest customer, you can get 10% off your insurance premium.
The GUARDHOG insurance policy is designed to dovetail your existing home and contents insurance. Please read the insurance documents carefully so you understand what this policy provides, as well as the limitations and exclusions.
